Introduction

The indigenous British population of Birmingham is doomed. Current government estimates put the ethnic minority population at thirty per cent and this is likely to be an underestimate. Demographers predict that the indigenous population will become a minority around 2015, in less than eight years from now. In twenty years time Birmingham will be a unrecognisable patchwork of conflicting ethnic groupings with the remaining British population packed into ever shrinking ghettos. Most of the white population who can afford to will have fled. Those that remain will be eventually assimilated into which ever dominant culture which surrounds them; Polish, Bengali, Pakistani, West Indian, Somalian or Indian.

However there exists a group of people determined that the destruction of the unique culture of Birmingham will not go unopposed. A small team comprised of truck drivers, carers, warehousemen, middle management, mothers, service sector workers and professional people committed to democratic non-violent resistance to the ethnic cleansing of the city. Birmingham's ruling elite has enormous resources of all kinds, an entrenched position and a vast pool of client voters. The Birmingham BNP has nothing but imagination and determination. Welcome to our blog.

Sunday, 1 July 2007

One of the most pertinent cultural strands that combine us Britons is the communal surroundings of a public house. For centuries the pub has been a remedy to a hard day’s graft or a stressful day in the office.

As with so many other quintessentially British institutions the pub is being systematically dismantled in the same way as the post office, the armed forces and the Anglican church. The BNP’s Shard End candidate in last May’s elections, Richard Lumby, highlighted the issue at the June meeting of East Birmingham BNP. Ahead of the ban Richard described how it had affected other parts of the British Isles, in particular southern Ireland where he has relatives. Whilst many pubs had learnt to cope with the ban or work round it, many others had been forced to close. This effect has undoubtedly hit Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in a similar way, now New Labour is to strike menacingly across the largest constituent in these islands – as from Sunday 1st July 2007 there will be a carpet ban on smoking in enclosed public spaces and work places across England.

Where will this assault on individual freedoms end? Will drinking be next?

“24-hour drinking to keep us all off the streets”.

That was the angle that rock band the Kaiser Chiefs took on their latest album and perhaps they are right, except only a handful of drinking establishments applied for such a licence. Is this part of a sustained effort to drive us off the streets and dump us at home to live like hermits in front of that key propaganda tool of the state – the TV, aka the ‘idiot box’ – that is creating a generation of apathetic morons as we speak. The gradual dismantling of the post office fits in nicely with this idea. The post office has long been a source of social interaction, particularly for the older generation, likewise the public house.

In addition to Labour’s assault on our British pubs, the changing demographics of our towns and cities is seeing an escalation in the decline of the ‘boozer’. Where trade is already in freefall many pubs are being sold off and converted into Chinese restaurants – for example the Navigation in Erdington, the King George V in Northfield and the Stockland Green. The pub is also disappearing fast from the inner cities where an influx of new arrivals from a non-drinking culture has displaced the indigenous population and led to a fall in trade. Other pubs have been forced out by acts of aggression.

This all serves to assist the establishment plot and as Richard stated, the smoking ban is only an opening act for the oppressive state under which we will all increasingly be forced to live. ID cards, tracking devices, biometric databases, universal CCTV – welcome to New Britain.

The burnt out ruin of the Wagon and Horses pub, Coventry Road, Sheldon. A pub had stood on this site for a century before this one closed due to lack of custom. Typically it was then burnt down by arsonists. Just one of hundreds of Birmingham pubs closed, burnt down and demolished over the last few years. The survival of the few remaining traditional community pubs is seriously doubtful thanks to Labour's smoking ban.

I think the smoking ban is great. Those of us who choose not to smoke will not be forced in to passive smoking, and can enjoy a night out without returning home smelling like an ash tray! Smoking in public areas is a selfish act and causes health risks to the majority of the population who do not smoke. Maybe all the money saved by party members from not smoking can be put to a useful cause - like the BNP collections and raffles!

Not a bad suggestion about the fund-raising aspect, but I reckon this is very sinister and the blog editor has got it right. I still find smoking personally disgusting, but look at the bigger picture and it is just another example of state interference in individual freedoms. Yes, I find being free of smoke great, but I would rather be free of state persecution any day of the week

I agree with the anonymous comment (04.07.07 13:21) that the smoking ban is in place to protect people's health and will hopefully significantly reduce the number of deaths related to smoking. It's not a case of restricting people's freedom. Society today won't listen to warnings so a blanket ban needed to be enforced.

I don't agree entirely with the health argument. Afterall, this will lead to a lot of people to smoke at home polluting the lungs of their own children...

This is the same society that I was talking about rob. Idiots who ignore the warnings and are willing to smoke around their own children. If they don't have the willpower to abstain from such an appauling act then maybe they need legislation to guide them?

Somehow, I can't help but feel that smoking is being supported due to the high number of East Birmingham BNP members that do smoke. As I was looking forward to the ban being implemented it occured to me that future meetings will perhaps be held in the car park in order to allow party members to carry out this filthy habit! I often do not want to come to meetings because of the smoke which affects my chest and eyes, and this has detered not just myself, but other members too. Again - this affects fundraising. I feel this is nothing to do with our freedom being removed from us, but personal preference and selfishness.

Sorry anon but if you spent your time baiting the establishment and publicly criticising the religion of peace you'd probably need a fag as well!

The fact is that many of the remaining Birmingham pubs are on the edge of solvency anyway. The loss of even a small amount of custom due to the smoking ban will certainly push a fair proportion under. Perhaps they were already mortally wounded but it is sad to see the epitome of British culture disappear from the landscape.

However since the ban is now in effect the smoking issue will no longer be an excuse, see you next time!

NB Its not just East Birmingham, you should see what South Brum can do to a deck of Benson's.

I think it is a good idea to stop the smoking in pubs, but the smaller independant landlords in brum should have a choice. As rob says look how many pubs have closed in brum especially in the 2 mile inner city radius.Take the 97 bus route for example, if you left shannons pub on the bordesley green the next one you would find on that route is the white hart,in chelmsley wood.

Just remember in a few years'time all those that can see no further than the smoking ban.
Heard of a softening up process?
Thats'exactly what you are witnessing here.
The recent dictat watch what you drink at home in political circles in called kite flying.
They knew the majority would cheer the ban on smoking even though there is absolutely no proof what-so-ever of passive smoking.
Drinking although many enjoy a glass, there are those that would welcome a ban.
Like in the old communist states many areas where people could gather to chew the fat were gradually closed thus preventing a meeting where plots could be hatched...i speak from experience!
Nobody defended the smokers and later when a ban on drink comes in the same will happen.
When your cars become too expensive to run then what?
By 2010 the EU that brought in the smoking ban also the curb on drinking add to this the fest over over-weight,the eu will be in control of petrol and diesel prices off hand i can't recall to what price but for sure it is far higher than now! doubters check the Bruges group site where they show the new laws weekly being snook in.
By 2016 the eu will control road duty taxes.
Just a thought...then they came for me!
Is not Islam that objects to cigarettes, alcohol, night-clubs,movies,even the clothes we wear add to this pork, music,tv,etc?
Todat Sir Andrew Greene of migration watch confirmed 85% of all immigration into the UK over the past 5 years were muslims.
By 2010 when 9 more muslim lands enter a free trade agreement giving them free entry into the EU
and UK Just remember your part played in laying the foundations.
Cars cause much more damage to humankind than do cigarettes..Fact.
No i don't smoke and i take one glass of red wine before bed.
Nore do i eat Pork!
Freedoms lost can never be gotten back easily.
jonesy..CORRECT VERY SINISTER.
Never heard of this to solve the smoking issue? Allow pubs to choose have two kinds that way everyone would keep their freedom!
This is just the start believe me.
You have to think, speak and do has you are ordered whether or not you agree...see the venom when you say Climate change is natural?
I wonder.. to help the climate should we ban cars to the peasants?
Think about it!!

The smugness of non smokers baffles me.When will British people learn, that the links of the chain to enslavement, are made one at a time. The smoking debate SHOULD have been left to the liecencee, whether HE wanted to run a smoking or non-smoking establishment. That is the democratic way ! this total ban,may well close a lot of pubs, as it has in Eire [400],and Scotland. I for one, dont apprecieate ANYBODY telling me,its for my own good..its bullying non democratic totallytarianism at its worst ! I"m just waiting for the hue & cry, from NON smoking moterists & drinkers ,when THIS UNDEMOCRATIC FASCIST lab government turns its attenntions to THEM ......p.s. nobody complained about cigaretts being part of my fathers rations, while he was a sergeant in the tanks, winning a military medal, fighting for WHAT ? NOT how this dustbin of a country has turned out
